This plane is definitely crashing - May Earnings

$468.66

Not to be too dismal... but these earnings are really getting me down. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop... things are just getting really frustrating.

I may look into other online avenues as well as do content sites... I've been considering doing something with ebooks, still not exactly sure how, though.

Jenn, I've been feeling the same frustration levels lately, too. It figures, too, that just when I've decided to ramp things up with my affiliate sites, Google hands down the "value added" dictum for affiliate sites.

Of course, I personally think I add value everywhere I go :) but I don't think Google always agrees with me LOL

Anyway, like you, I've been thinking about other things. Ebooks are one possibility, and email marketing is another. And I am definitely going to do some PPC.

Hang in there with me, okay? We'll both get there, even if it might be later rather than sooner!

Jenn, I'm curious what you do to market your sites. I'm just starting to follow a system that also, perhaps coincidentally, guides you to creating 50 websites. Although within a year, not four months. Yikes.

Do you submit to directories? How many? Do you submit your url to Google? How about recipricol linking?

BJ - Haha, yeah, I like to think I add value everywhere I go too - too bad Google doesn't always recognize it ;) Thanks, though, I definitely WILL hang in there, and it does seem like our blogs have been on the same page lately about a lot of things. And I know just making a little, at first, off of the 50 sites will add up to - hopefully - some nice profits.

Thanks, too, Mark.

Tim - I have been doing link exchanges, though I'm going to cut back now that Google discourages excessive link trading. My sites are all indexed in Google, and I do not submit them to Google, I let Google find the links. I submit them to a few of the top directories, I have one affiliate site and one hobby site in DMOZ. I also do article distribution.

Hi Jenn,

I understand your frustrations. I've checked out your candle and music site in the past and they're great.

Along with ebooks, doing PPC on the high end items on your sites might be helpful.

I've recently found that getting massive keyword lists (several thousands) helps out in dropping the costs. There's a lot of misspelled word to capitalize from. -I'm currently analyzing a list close to 50k

Besides my CB store, I also run a few automated ebook sites as well.

If you have any questions about ebooks, don't be afraid to ask.

Hang in there:)

Hey Charles,

Thanks for the kind words :)

When you say you get massive keyword lists - what do you do with them? Write content over each word? Buy PPC advertising for each word?

As for ebooks, I am really looking into that... and I do have a lot of questions, as a matter of fact... :)

I don't even know where to begin right now.. For one, do you have a newsletter on your ebooks sites? If so, do you start it before launching a product? Are you a ClickBank affiliate manager and if so do your make much for you? Is it worth the $49 to sign up with them??

Coming from someone who's got a number one spot on Google, I could definitely use your advice!

"A few of the top directories."

Hmmm. I'm just starting out in this biz, but one idea I've seen which I'm trying out is submitting to HUNDREDS of directories, good PR or not. I have no idea if this is going to work, but you might take one of your sites and try it. And then let me know what happens.

Hmm, I never thought they'd be worth the trouble... I did submit one to about 50 2 months ago but it hasn't improved much, yet. I may try doing more some time.
